I have a problem with my cd burner.(need help)

Every time I go to burn a cd, it gets to 1% and the burner opens. After that the burner shuts down is not selectable from the computer. I uninstalled the drive and installed it again but it stills keeps happening.

Well at least yours works. The drivers on mine have been removed or something, but I don't even have the driver disk.

Is it the only cd-drive in your system? Because if you have two you have to set one to master, and the other to slave. Also does the same thing happen with different burning software?

My burner is external and this happens with every burning system I used in the past 2 days

Chances are it's a hardware issue. How long have you been using the drive?

What OS are you using?

I been using it for about 9months.
Its a CenDyne
And I'm using it on Windows98se

Model number is the info I need not that make

Has it ever worked?

Do you have USB 2.0 on your motherboard?

If not do you have a USB 2.0 PCI card?

If none of the above you can't run that hardware at all :/

USB 2.0 uses more power than older USB used and is still newish

there are no driver updates for that particular hardware but there are USB 2.0 Updates here

If you are using Nero to burn, then when the burning fails - save the log file it offers you, and post it on this forum (as an attachment).

If you can remember aswell what were the last few things you installed/updated (hardware and software) just before you realised the drive was no longer operating corectly
