    Default Dexdrive saves to ePSXe?

allirht i got a program to convert Derive to Bleem! and VGS but i want to to convert them to work with ePSXe. FOr starters i hate Bleem and VGs and secondly AFAIK none of them can play thew game i want, which is Final Fantasy IX NTSC. Now if there isnt a program to convert Derive directly to ePSXe, is there a way to convert Bleem! or VGS savestates to ePSXe? plz help me if you do know anything. thanks

First of all if you had done some research you would know that NO psx emulator can play Final Fantasy 9 without removing the copy protection. As for the Save Convertion go get a program called "Mem Manager". It can convert saves to any psx emulator save format. As for removing the copy protection here is a link for the ppf files.

    PPF Files

To apply these patches you can either use them with Pete's CDR Plugin to use them On-The-Fly or you can patch the CD images (isos) permanently with the PPF-O-Matic. If the patch doesn't work you may need to convert FF9's disc format to Pal. Also take note that the patch will add a cheat menu at the start of the game where you can optionally activate cheats. I hope this reply was suffecient.

I'm pretty sure ePSXe supports Derive saves anyway, so there's no need to convert...

    EDIT: Yes, yes it does.

If you want to convert anyway, use the attatchment in my next post.

If you have an actual dex drive try using PSXGameEdit it not only reads directly from your DEX drive it can also convert PAL saves to NTSC or JAP or even vice versa (Not every save can be converted but most can) it also supports save files already on your PC.

I consider PSXGameEdit the best PSX save converter around

You can get it at http://www.moberg-dybdal.dk/psxge/

    ePSXe supports the following formats:-
    MCR - Native ePSXe
MEM - Virtual Game Station AKA VGS
    MCD - Bleem!
    GME - Derive

Hey Vanit. I ripped a bin file of the Final Fantasy IX cds. I have done nothing to those bin files, but they play perfectly with ePSXe1.6. I used NO ppf patches.

You have only proven that the latest ePSXe has been coded to evade the FF9 copy protection (all versions before 1.6 needed the patches). But you are still left with the fact that EVERY other psx emulator needs the patches in order to play FF9.

VGS also has it's own fix for FF9 so there is no need to patch the game for that either, so you have made a mistake Vanit there is no need to take it personally , everyone can make a mistake.

Not that he was asking how to run the game with ePSXe anyway LOL

I know there is an FF9 patch for VGS. But you only supported me since that is STILL a patch. You can't run FF9 with the regular VGS.

Well I was actully thinking of a compatability txt file called Games.txt you just have in the same folder as VGS not a VGS patch.

Besides you can't even run CD-R's without patching VGS aswell but the patches also work as unofficial updates and the official updates were also done with patches.

Actually, you are both right and wrong on that, Vanit. The NTSC version (US and Japan) of FF9 doesn't need ANY patches to run in epsxe at all(all version of epsxe). However, the PAL version(European) must need the PPF patches to patch the copy protection and run it in epsxe.

As for memory card conversion, goto www.aldostools.com
They have a couple programs to choose form but I personally use the Mem Manager since it is very to use.

    They are hot, aren't they??

Oh right. I have the pal version so I didn't know that. Having said that, all the other emulators need patches or some kind of thing that didn't originally come with the emulator in order to play FF9.
