In the sound options therer is an option to disable/enable XA sounds in MDEC's apart from that there are no other options that I know of for diabling MDEC's.

Out of interest why do you want this disabled?

There may be another solution to your problem if you give us more details, including your PC specs, and details on the plugins you are using.

I just got final fantasy IX from bolton2's site and It was running perfectly. Then I get to the video at the end of Dali, right after fighting black waltz no. 2 and the video runs until your about to see the back of the airship. I tried all of pete's Gpu plugins but still the same result. So, I figured that the problem was with the video itself, so I deleted that disc and started searching the internet for a replacement and I found this page that said if you had a problem running a game try disabling mdecs, that's when I remembered either disabling them or a certain plugin skipped them, one of the two. so I looked all over and I couldn't find that plugin so I posted here. I'm positive it's not my pc, I'm sure it's the cutscene.

Hmm ok maybe you need to use another emu just to get past that part.

VGS is the only emu I know of were you can turn movies off in it or atleast I think you can it's been along time since I used it but that might not solve your problem either.

Another thing you could try is to repair your ISO files by running it through CDmage and Scan for coruption then repairing any damaged sectors. (Always backup before doing that though just in case).

Last option would be for me to get you past that part I just happen to own that game myself (Orignal that is) so all I would need from you is your save file. (I probly have a diff version but it will not matter I can convert between the any of the FFIX version saves anyway), (A Save State might work and if it does that would work out alot better for you).

No I don't think it would be your PC either anyway it is probly a error in that FMV cut as you say causing a freeze/slow down.

I'm trying to play Chrono Cross, but It is pretty laggy and the grafix are bad. Could anyone tell me the optimal emulator/plugins/settings combo for me?

Crap sound card
GeForce4 440SE 64MB Gfx card

Use epsxe 1.5.2 and i'm not too sure about the plugins, i use P.E.Op.S. Soft Driver 1.15 (the graphics arent too nice) then click on fast. If it is too fast click on Use FPS limit then FPS limit (10-200) and type in 60 in the box. Hope this helps and hope you can understand what i said/typed

ePSXe 1.5.2 with Pete's OpenGL2 Driver 2.2 works great for me (On best setting) just hit the fast button if there is lag on higher spec settings.

Then you can try to set lil bits at a time at higher specs to see if it lags to find your best setting for your PC.

P.E.Op.S. DSound Audio Driver 1.7 works well with the vid driver aswell.

I will also try that particular game out myself later aswell if you are still having probs but at mo I'm spending some time away from my PC.

I would advise a OpenGL hardware plugin though for that video card you may need the settings a lil lower than you would want though but only because of the GFX card memory, (Should still be fast mem but just a lil on the low side your CPU power should be fine)

My PC stats are like this:-
AMD Athlon XP 2600+
1 Gig RAM
Not that good sound Nvidia nForce sound chip set (Onboard)
Nvidia GeForce FX 5600 (256mb)
Windows 2000

To be honest your stats should be fine for the most part but I would also like to know what you have been using so far to play the game as I think it may be more your settings than any hardware probs.

Well actually there is a CDRoM plugin for epsxe called Mooby CDR that will decompress the iso inside the rar files and extract to your harddrive. I am not sure if that's what you are looking for.

Do you guys know which settings/plugins are best for playing Worms World Party on epsxe???. Am asking this coz I have been away from epsxe emulation for quite sometime now and don't know if there are any new plugins out or updated versions of previous plugins are out. Right now, I have epsxe 1.6.0 and here are my system specs.

Intel Pentium 4 2.40 ghz HT
Intel 865 GBF mobo
Stupid onboard Intel Extreme Graphics 2 (32 bit)
256 DDR400

Worms World Party is a 2D game so I would recommend Pete's Soft GPU. It works with most games. Might be a little slow sometimes, but you have a good computer so it should run without problems.
