Just had a 4TB WD My Passport corrupted beyond repair, well beyond my ability. It had hardly any use, just kept it for storage, so fuck knows what happened to it?

I bought one a few months ago to try and avoid another power brick and I regret it. Reallocated sectors and terrible performance.

installed GT 5 on my ps3 today I forgot how long that takes after that I spent an hour or two trying to figure out why my old save wasn't working even after resigning it. I finally did get it working after using bruteforce and unlocking it with the fake sign option for rebug.

Yeah WD quality has dropped in recent years, well at least for the affordable stuff anyway.
Also their portable usb powered drives don't have sata + adapter inside (for a few years now at least), it's 2.5" with usb board actually on the drive so you can't buy one on sale and pull the drive out for a laptop or whatever.

Seagate usb powered, at least the ones I've looked at, still have sata + usb adapter inside. Although anything like 4TB and above will probably be so thick you can't use it in a laptop anyway

If I buy something new I get Seagate.

The WD C50 is a new black series 1TB official expansion card for XSX, it looks smaller than previous Seagate offerings.

Beat VH, black screen at over 18 points. Happens at the start of some missions, the end of some missions, the start and end of missions and chapters, and even at the end of the credits sequence .

It's a shame I don't have another Saturn around to see if it would manifest on a different model.

Early Japanese models can still be found at a reasonable price, I've done this twice post covid. You probably already know you can change the menu language.
I suggest you at least get a modchip if you don't want to spend some dollars getting fenrir or whatever.

It's annoying how inconvenient transferring saves has become.

I don't see much reason to bother with it unless there are several games I want to play which have issues like patched VH did.

Wanna have a bit of fun? Turn on a Wii sensor bar and point your phones camera at it.

    Candles simulate the same thing.
People using candles for Wii isn't a new thing, moslty people have resorted to that if they pulled the wire from the original sensor bar and it stopped working. Later on you could get a wireless bar (batteries).

yeah it is. I don't really get why these companies don't allow you to freely transfer saves and make their own app for resigning them.

It benefits them to disallow it. For example, the console manufacturers can shovel their paid network services with "conveniences" like online save backup. With publishers/developers they can funnel you to cheat DLC and they won't get an earful from up the chain if a save could be leveraged to exploit console security.

Same, I'd avoid WD if at all possible for portable drives. I don't care if the drive does/doesn't fit in a laptop, the USB board is a failure point, so if it's SATA>USB you can just swap it out for whatever if it dies.
*PSA* Wii Redump collector's can now unscrub ISO files. So scrubbed games can now be verified. You can find the program to do this here
