Sensor bars are just emitting infrared light from 2 points bout a foot apart, and your device sees those to track movement. A candle will make more than enough IR to be seen.
Wanna have a bit of fun? Turn on a Wii sensor bar and point your phones camera at it.

Wii sensor bar and other similar sensor bars are just infrared "spots" to put it simply, to calibrate where the wiimote or whatever is pointing.
Candles simulate the same thing.
People using candles for Wii isn't a new thing, moslty people have resorted to that if they pulled the wire from the original sensor bar and it stopped working. Later on you could get a wireless bar (batteries).

oh that's interesting.

So yeah my 360 Cabela's gun doesn't need the official bar, it's just infrared whatever (I have a couple of 3rd party Wii wireless sensor bars).
No box for it either but the gun itself is complete with scope and stock. I got it as junk untested in a lot of stuff for pocket change (as per usual).

Just a reddish lens. You can remove it and use iron sights. You can remove the stock too.

Which is why sometimes you see them loose missing the scope and/or the stock. Usually it's the scope that's missing, I've even seen that with boxed guns.

Tested the recent black Wii U gamepad I got, works ok.

I'll still attempt a repair on the white one I have whenever the digitizer screen shows up.

Was testing the gamepad on the more recent black console I got... forgot that this still had user logins on it that I didn't bother wiping. So today I noticed one had eshop so I guess it was a parent?
Setup network (I have Wii wired usb adapter) and went onto the shop No balance but there was dl history so I grabbed a few small things. Everything else I looked at (DLC for disc games I own) was "unavailable". Next I need to test in-game DLC code for AC IV Black Flag physical

The code works I didn't even need Ubisoft server login, all extra content unlocked now.
