Yes I mean the game updates are pretty much forced. New update available and the game won't work unless you install it.
Example:
You have a game installed from disc, you have it hooked up to the net.
You go to play a game and see "update available" but the update is 40GB or more.
You can't play that game now until you update, even if you go offline (you can go offline to avoid console updates and still play though).
The only way to play that game now without updating is to uninstall it and install again offline, and stay offline.
Spoiler warning:
You can disable forced updates on Win10. I'm not talking about put off till a later date, but actually disable. But once you manually check it will force any updates M$ deem necessary.
One reason I caved last year and finally upgraded my net after putting it off for many years. Sick of updates taking forever with my old crappy speed.
The main reason was covid in general, spending more time at home and using the net more.
Spoiler warning:
I've got used to Win10 now.
Yeah I'm not sure why loads of people think forced updates galore are mandatory. It's only the really critical stuff (which you should have) and even then you can put those off for a little bit anyway.
They just haven't setup things properly.
Same people probably also have all telemetry etc going on... "why is my pc running like shit now?"
