I just remembered when I bought my Xbone S the guy in the shop was trying really hard to sell me a play and charge kit. I said no, I have plenty of rechargeable AA's and he claimed "this is much better though".

You're better off getting a 4xAA and charger kit dude, look for Eneloops
The MS battery packs don't hold a good charge so the recharge kit isn't good value really.
I never had a 360 charge kit either just used rechargeable AA's.

My 1TB S came with 2 code sets. One is 2 weeks and the other is 1 month.
Guess things have changed more recently as it was usually 3-6 months

I'll poke around the store and see what they have in terms of kits and rechargeable batteries when I go after work today. I'm not overly concerned about how long it holds a charge as long as it isn't stupid like under 6 hours or something. I don't mind plugging the controller in overnight or whatever either. But I'll see what I can find - long as it's cheap. I've already spent wayyy too much on this thing

Get an Eneloop battery and charger kit off ebay or whatever.
Get 4 batteries. You can charge one pair while using the other.

The MS charge kit simply isn't worth the money, it's pretty much like buying an "Xbox One Gaming Hard Drive USB3.0" when you can get the same thing as a PC version cheaper, and the Xbone will format it fine.

Only difference is the colour of the Xbone Gaming HDD vs the PC version That sort of thing is for sheeple.

I like it I do have one gripe about it at least gameplay wise the lack of weapon diversity I'm getting a little bored with these weapon choices I really wish there were pole-arms flails and crossbows.
