From another source I got a genuine Kenner 1978 issue radio controlled R2 D2, missing controller.
White plastic has some discolouring but the battery compartment has no signs of leakage or damage.

Untested, but still a nice addition to my collection.

Wow thats pretty nice man I got a little bit of old star wars collectabilia. Hes worth 5 grand i think, this medical droid (saving him to sell for a rainy day)

He's missing his little arm though...everything else on him is in perfect condition. Back when i was a kid I used to go to bootfairs for the old toys XD Star Wars was always good to find and i wanted to get every droid in the set XD almost did to im not missing much (the arsehole droid in jabbas palace, red R2D2 and the GONK bot)

You might be able to get a repro arm for him.

I'm just looking at how to mod this R2 D2 to run off a different controller atm I might scrounge up some binned r/c cars and controllers at work.

    Disassemble to parts.
Magic eraser to clean non-painted sections.
Place part in zip lock bag with hydrogen peroxide (12% mix, amount may vary for size of part and how discoloured it is).
Put bag in sun and turn every few hours.

I dunno if I want to try the hydrogen peroxide but I've been meaning to grab some magic eraser blocks.

I've got a snow speeder here that needs restoring too, but it also needs a replacement canopy (the whole thing). And a fresh sticker set.
    The battery components work fine.
