Assassins in place to take out Zal.
Go overboard balancing into blandness.
Cut loads of content.
Add lots of DLC crap.
MMMOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I'd be leery about playing anything from Epic these days. They've been suing children over cheating recently.
Basically they were completely prepped for a slam dunk with Destiny 2. Destiny 1 had tons of problem on launch, they added tons more content/activities, tons of quality of life changes to mechanics/leveling etc, had tons of interesting/impactful weapons and armor after the 4 DLCs and like 3? free updates over the They left it all behind (in first mission of Destiny 2's story the Last City gets invaded/destroyed so you "lose" everything you accumulated), that's how they justified wiping your characters clean. In that same mission the invaders actually cut all guardians off from the Light, aka you can die for real, pre-release they hyped up that you lose your light and have to journey to get it back and gather the stragglers, you literally get your Light back in the 2nd mission, you go 1 mission without it....
Yes, they actually started releasing their internal development roadmap to the public (have done two instances so far), and 90% of the stuff on there is adding back in crap that was in Destiny 1 or added during one of its updates, back into Destiny 2.
Oh yeah! I remember hearing about all of this controversy, isn't there like a premium currency in game? They did some dumb stuff with one of the dlcs that ended up locking out a bunch of players from previously available content, right?
I wonder how much of that is Bungie and how much is the publisher.
Spoiler warning:
Yes I put that in my giant post under the section titled "Bungie Missteps" or something. I kept that specific part small, but yes they blocked the max difficulty setting on 2 of the end game activities (the raid and nightfall strike), which locked people out from a trophy and content they had been able to play prior.
And for premium currency, that is the microtransactions, called "Silver" also a big section in my post titled "Eververse"
And FYI, Activision is the publisher.
Yes I know everything about this actually.
Activision trademarked the technology to match players together based on microtransactions. So like in most games like Call of Duty, Halo, Destiny, etc. You either go with a ranking system based on player skill to group players against each other, or prioritize having the best possible internet connections for the match. This system would scan players, and lets say Person A bought something with real money (like a cool looking skin for a gun) it would prioritize matching this player with someone who has not bought that skin for the weapon. So the Person B who doesn't have the skin, would see the player with the skin, and be encouraged to buy it. When the trademark was announced, the Bungie community managers had to come out and specifically post "This system does not appear in the
Destiny franchise"
Kotaku article about the patent https://kotaku.com/activision-patent...ers-1819630937
And fuck me, I just realized I forgot two things in my post, one is just another small thing, but the second is actually massive but isn't gameplay related.
