It's much better now. I believe it is under 30 known games with issues on OPL and there are so many PS2 games.

If you are having burns fail you should get a new disc drive.

didn't know OPL was still being supported. I used to use that to play games over network the games played fine but there was always an issue with fmvs(usually video lag or audio stutter)

yeah there's also the convenience factor. most of the ps2 games I want to play still are all compatible on ps3.

I keep dying at Nashandra. Of course I was playing it most of the day so probably just need a break and come back to it. I can't find any human effigies again so I can't get those 2 phantoms to help out so I'm scouring the levels looking for some. The only thing I didn't bother with was that massive dragon and that king guy - and the DLC which is crazy hard. I might give NG+ plus a look afterwards actually just to check itt out.

All PS3s are region free. Honestly, I bet I could get a hackable slim in the same range for you so I'll keep my eyes peeled.

If you don't have a PS2 and want one, I can send you one that has a non-working disc drive for the cost of shipping or trade it for w/e. You'd just need to get a network adapter and a compatible HDD and you can play w/e on it. There is something better than HDLoader now, I forget what it is called.
