Probably not. But if you wanna hook up stuff that doesn't have D-Sub vga but has hdmi get the adapter.
As I said you'll still need something else for audio because your monitor doesn't have speakers built in.
PS3, Xbox 360 etc have hdmi and also optical audio out so you use the 1080p dvi monitor with hdmi adapter and then run the optical audio (aka toslink) through a surround sound receiver.

do ps3 360 ect have just hdmi or do they have composite or component(can't remember which is which) out if they do have composite/component out can't you hook that up to a stereo receiver through the aux channel to play the audio? I know it works from the tv to stereo I used to use it when I had my desktop speakers hooked up to my stereo but had my ps2 hooked up to the tv.

I have no idea if you can use the audio through av cable and the hdmi at the same time on those consoles.
Never tried that, I've had at least one receiver that can take optical and coaxial digital audio forever
