Well I dunno about the end of the world but the US is a huge fat juicy target for some people, because ever since WWII a lot of foreign policy has been about "encouraging" (either passively or aggressively) other countries to be more like you. I mean defending/supporting Israel even when it breaks international law and human rights is a good example of a stupid idea.
Yeah sure, remove someone from power in a middle eastern country for whatever reason takes your fancy, launch some strikes at another country because chemical weapons were used in a civil war...but don't force the Israelis to stop doing what they want to do. They deserve some slack because of what happened several generations ago and you didn't act fast enough to deal with it at the time.

Also, the northern hemisphere is basically full of potential time bombs.
