*eh heh heh hem...* Again grounded in a little science. They maybe ballistic weaponry (bullets) but the way the mechanisms work is much like what we are putting into the tech of our weaponry now, specifically the fireing in pulses. Good for ammo conservation and better for accuracy too (apprentlly, havent fully read into the science behind it yet i jus luvs me a smart gun ^^).
However, in the universe and in the original drafts/book they do have projected energy weaponry too, phased plasma tech and people have known about the science behind making weaponry with it for years we just dont have the means to make it stable atm on a big scale.

And screw all this talk of old XD bloody millenials thinking anything over 28 is old :/ gonna have a logans run society on our hands before long AND I AM NOT GOING ON CAROSEL FOR ANYONE! XD

Ya' know what i never thought i'd ever be doing this but i am going to defend colonial marine on this one XD The community rip into the the way guns work however timegate (not gearbox) were actually spot on. "THEY ARN'T ACCURATE!" No, they arn't...you have discovered point 1 of how a pulse rifle actually works XD They arn't an accurate weapon, they are a close quarters spray n pray weapon. They are basically designed to splat the enemy in pulses with a hurl of explosive rounds, that's why there were 2 smart gunners to back them up, those are the accurate monsters.
