You also forgot to mention games that require a specific platform.
I can't play UT04 on my consoles, you can't play Killzone 2/3/Shadowfall or Uncharted 2/3/4 on your PC.
    Works both ways.

Honestly I don't enjoy playing mp as much as sp but then it's very rare that I play with people I know, and even rarer doing it just for fun.
I typically only play games with a single player campaign; I enjoy co-op in a lot of games though. Takes a particular game (UT and SoaSE for example) for me to be interested without a campaign.

Yeah co-op is way more fun than mp. I've had a lot of fun playing Dead Island/Riptide/Dying Light in particular.
Other games such as RE5 are ok but I mostly played that solo tbh. RE Rev Raid mode is interesting, it's basically co-op (or solo but that's uber hardcore) but structured differently to the sp story.
SC Blacklist co-op was ok too but I didn't play much of that, only what I needed to. The mp sucks though and I still haven't got the for that.

Does it play like the wave mini-game?

SC Blacklist co-op (iirc) is: some missions in sp have the co-op option, there are some (maybe only 1-2 or something? It has been a while) that have to be played co-op.
MP is just a fairly generic mp with common modes...deathmatch, some sort of zone control and the like. I didn't like the maps and hardly anybody seemed to be playing it when I tried it out.

Note: I have the PS3 5th Freedom Edition which might have maybe an extra mission or two I can't remember now. I do remember that I got it cheap as just the steelcase, instructions and bonus codes (which were still valid ) for the same price as the vanilla version.

I enjoyed that game overall though, just didn't like the mp.

I enjoyed the campaign, it didn't seem like the sort of game that would have good MP.

It would've been nice to have stealth in Far Crysis. A leaf rustles from a mile out and they're on it .

Which Far Cry? 2 is notorious for enemies spotting and shooting at you from miles away.
