Back to anime, I never really did typically care to watch anime too much because of what it has to say. It's more like a derpy action movie watch for me (this is most anime anyway, tbh). When I want something serious/message driven (not often), I feel I typically have better options than hamfisted anime messages.

Maybe if it's new I guess. But some old serious anime movies are fine, I don't recall Ninja Scroll being funny...well not intentionally anyway
And I've always like GitS, that has hardly any humour at all.

Psycho-Pass is in the same genre as GITS, just has alot more gore and combusting peoples.

Better than making things like Psycho Piss though.

I do not watch much newer anime. Gobby's comment about getting a shovel sounds about right, only I'm lazy so yeah. I'd much rather read a book, watch a US show, play a video game etc... than look through the upcoming lot of new anime seasons.

There is actually more decent non generic anime than you think.
