I'm with King here, gotta support our friendly neighbours. Not gonna be easy cos a player as great as he can be, and Cristiano certainly is, can't make a team. The lack of a central striker makes Portugal too foreseeable and easy to defend against. I wish them to have the best performance possible in the tourney tho. And let's hope what happened with Greece in 2004 doesn't repeat ever again, that was a shame :/

Didn't particularly like that either, but mostly good natured banter and mind games leading up to a game are very different in my mind to a bitter, mean spirited rant post-game against a team who played fair and square and succeeded in winning a point in a fixture they were highly unfancied in through a mixture of hard work (which they should be credited for) and Portugal's wastefulness in front of goal (which was on the Portugal players' shoulders rather than Iceland's). Can totally understand him being frustrated, mind. I was grinding my teeth as a Barca fan when I watched Mourinho park the bus with his Inter team against them in the Champions League however many years ago. But I found it highly unprofessional then despite my loyalties when Pep and the rest whined after the game about Mourinho employing a very valid (if not very attractive) game plan with great success, and I don't like Ronaldo doing it this time either. It's all very well to be frustrated by an opponent, but people need to know how to lose with a little dignity.

And I was just kidding about Iceland going on to win the tournament. Heaven forbid. I'd like to see them give a good account of themselves as tournament debutants, but I don't want to see another team go all the way by just grinding out results. :'D

Rooting for Wales here in lieu of Scotland (we can't even make it in a year full of unexpected qualifications when every other UK nation qualified ), but stonewall handball for me. Lucky lucky Wales.

Yeah, intent is debatable, but his hand looked like it moved away from his body towards the ball, and you're quite lucky to get away with that these days. Big decision either way!

Really really poor from Hart. Would expect any of the goalkeepers in the tournament to save that, nevermind one of his quality. Right before the turn of the half, too. Sucker punch for England. Will be interesting to see how they come out after half time now. Thought they looked the more likely to score for most of the half!

I really like the way this England team plays, though. The first time I've enjoyed watching them for a good while. Lots of youth in the team, too, so quite a promising future ahead maybe.
