I also had an Acer Aspire 5535 where the GPU/motherboard died after about a year. Turned it off one night, went to put it on the next day and nothing on the screen, and nothing through an external VGA monitor. Poop.
Heh, the laptop I'm using right now is hot garbage. But it functions well enough for browsing the web. Of course, I'd rather keep my gaming tower offline, just easier that way.

And yeah sometimes you get a good one. EMachines was a pos brand and there was even a lawsuit because they were designed to break down but I have an ancient tower from them that still runs. Crazy really.

Windows 7 actually. I'm just anal since I spent so much on it.

Living in the Boonies tends to have a negative effect on good internet providers.

Pretty good! Mine was a tank. Put the thing through hell. I eventually killed it of course but it lasted a lomg time. Pretty old model though, like 2008 or something. Guess they don't build them like they used to or something

My HP and Sony Vaio didn't last anywhere near as long.

    More about Acer,
All of my monitors were acer. But those who know me, know that I spend no money on my monitors.
I got all three for free becuase they were broken, then I fixed them. If you can't fix it when it breaks, don't go with Acer.
Actually, I have no more Acer monitors becuase they all broke again! Now I have three monitors that I fixed (Dell, Hannspree and Westinghouse)

My laptop experience is Dell and Asus. My Dell lasted me from 2008 to 2015 at which point I sold it to me brother. He has since duped coffee in it, but it worked fine for that long. Now I have an Asus which is from about 2010-2012. I inherited it from the GF after she got macbook.

I also know a guy who knows a guy who went through half a dozen Acer laptops in a single year. But he liked to twist and punch them.

    EDIT:

I just checked on my GF's all-in-one and that is an Acer. I guess it works well, but it shipped with some major software/memory leak issues. These were pretty easily fixed.

I have a Hannspree lying around and it was pretty bad. Well the speakers are ATROCIOUS, not even sure why they would bother to include speakers that bad.

Because they know they can get away with it.

You should hear the internal speakers in my laptop, absolutely horrible.

I hear ya, it's just stupid. I'd rather they not put the speakers in at all and just but that 10 cents towards something else.

either I'm lucky or acer has gone to shit since I bought mine back in 2009-2010. specs aren't great but for what I spent I couldn't have gotten much better from a laptop.
    also hey guys.
