Nah, the starting off with the Yum Heart is super good. You do have to get either a damage up eventually or stack a bunch of hearts or you're screwed.

Except you are on both counts. It has to collect data in order for voice recognition and other features to work, but they're completely optional and you don't have to use them if you don't want to. It literally shoves the menu in your face and lets you disable all this stuff on install.
