How do I use my laptop as a controller?

Is it possible to use my laptop keyboard keys to control the game?
I know you're probably laughing at me for being a noob at this, but the emulator and game(majora's mask) work perfectly fine but no button I press gets me off the title screen.
Do I need to download a patch or buy a certain controller to do this?
(I am using the '1964' emulator vr 1.1
Windows 7)

try and config the controls, you may or may not need another controller plugin though to use a keyboard but I am sure that it can be done

but as usual it is best to buy a control pad or even a converter say if you have an old PSX or PS2 pad

either way you still need to setup the controls though

Though now I play It I my need to upgrade some of my laptop's RAM.

Also what are your current system specs as N64 emulation is kinda highish end

I don't want you buying ram expecting the emulation to run perfect if it can't not that N64 emulation is perfect to start with there are a few games that don't run correctly no matter what settings you use or how high spec the machine is
