There are more JRPGs by the numbers. Simple math. Even if I played every western RPG and some percentage under half of JRPGs (and it is well under half) I'd be playing more JRPGs. It's a numbers game. Playing and enjoying are two different things btw. I freaking hated Xillia, but I finished it.

JRPGs (Japanese games in general even?) just don't have the same spirit anymore. It's all paint by numbers check a box. Where is Lunar? Where is Popful Mail? Where is Jet Set Radio? etc... They are being made by US indie devs now. Well and Nintendo, who is, oddly enough given all the scorn and doomsaying, still getting it right for the most part.
