Default Metal Gear Solid PSX Save/Load issues?

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this, I'm new here.

So after finally getting around to play MGS for the first time ever, After solving some sound issues, I get past the first area and up the lift, however, at the first time you can save the game, I saved, and the game got stuck on the saving screen, the music was still playing, just nothing happened.
So I quit the game and emulator, and loading it up, it appeared my save data did save, but upon loading, the same issue occured, being stuck on the "Now loading..." screen with the music still playing, I have no idea what to do, and because I've heard save states mess up this game, I don't feel like going through the game without saving (And I won't get past the disc change.)

Does anyone else know about this problem, and how to solve it?

    SBXZero:

    * If you'll mention whether or not you are using a real Sony Playstation unit with an optional cheat module plugged in, or is it an emulator, and which kind of emulator, and which version, and which kind of OS you have, Macintosh or Windows, and which version, and your screen resolution, we might be better on our way to answering this question perhaps ?

Always be thorough in describing the environment when you have a problem with anything.

Sorry for not being Thorough enough:

I'm using the ePSXe emulator (Ver. 1.9.25) on windows 8.1, my resolution is 1440 x 900 but scaled down to 800 x 600

This is the ROM I'm using: *external site link removed*

I don't know if it's important but the plugins I'm using are

    Video: Pete's OpenGL Driver 1.77
Sound: P.E.Op.S DSound Audio Driver 1.9

    WIll this help?

Yes, never link an external file unless it's EPForum's specifically or one you personally uploaded for EPForum's use, like Mediafire or Hugefiles.

The simplest solution for those who don't want to fuss with plugins is to use the PSX 1.13 emulator for Windows which does not require any and additionally has a high compatibility rate with many PSX games including Metal Gear Solid. You can find that for use and download HERE:

    Hope This Helps !

P.S. the same should work for ePSXe 1.9.25
P.P.S. if for some reason you can't use OpenGL2 then you can apply the same settings to normal OpenGL or Direct 3D

As a side note the disc images may be corrupt or just badly dumped, but I am sure we have a copy of the game on our main server

I think it is very possible that it is not a settings issue at all but a bad disc image as I don't remember this being an issue with this game with ePSXe or any other emulator.
