Bit unfair to single Kojima out, the guy’s always been super open about his influences and he's said before how much he loves Escape From New York. There's considerably more to his games than a name and eye patch so it’s definitely a homage rather than plagiarism in this case. A lot of Japanese media of the time was just as heavily influenced by western media as we were by theirs. Look at all the Aliens references in Super Contra and Metroid, or even something like Final Fight where half the characters are named after 80s rock bands. Even now there’s a monster in the Persona games that’s literally Hulk Hogan.

But kojima is inspired by every other film is and you can definitely see the influences, in the opening of mgs1 you can see a shot for shot still shout out to escape from new york, not plagarism though, his games are still original enough to not be considered plagarised.

I'm thinking about buying a popular amiibo and defiling it...maybe two will be needed, or I could just use a He-Man figure I guess.
