I've all but given up trying to buy anything for 90s or older consoles. I'm lucky in that I already have most of the games I'd want for them by now, but prices have gotten ridiculous over here, especially on the NTSC stuff which is all I collect. It's probably been a good six months to a year since I actually bought anything. I'll probably try and grab a few more N64 games before they shoot up to stupid levels and call it a day.
Not going to lie though, as fond as I am of my retro hoard, I see the prices some of this stuff is going for at the moment and I'm often tempted to rig up some gamepad adapters and sell everything I can emulate comfortably on the Xbox before the bubble bursts.![]()
N64 is starting to rise but it's not quite there yet, at least not over here. If it's anything like the SNES it might shoot up within the next couple of years but thankfully for the time being it's still very affordable and a great system to collect for. I usually stick to loose carts and even on eBay you won't pay more than £10 maximum for most of the popular games. The less known/sought after stuff isn't even £5. There are still maybe only a dozen or so games with "silly" prices, and even games on the higher end of that scale like Conker really aren't all that bad when compared to what various SNES games fetch.
And yeah, Saturn collections are the path to madness. I acquired a tiny collection of fairly common PAL stuff about ten years ago when it was still cheap but lusted after a Japanese Saturn forever. Finally caved and bought one years ago and oh look, everything worth playing now costs almost as much as the console did.Other than the stuff it came bundled with I've only bought two (cheap) games for it since. LESSON LEARNED.

I hope it does, would be nice to actually buy some NES games for once.£25 for a cart only copy of Simon's Quest is taking the piss.
It's funny, you can't even blame nostalgia for that one because the NES really wasn't all that popular here. It still did well obviously but everyone had computers at the time and didn't really bother with consoles because the games were so much more expensive. I guess it's probably thanks to internet stuff like AVGN but still, it's baffling. Consoles didn't really catch on here until the Mega Drive, then of course the Playstation hit it out of the park.
