Blame the Americans, they corrupt everything![]()
Spoiler warning:
It was always called soccer here too, because we have our own domestic football. I recall my grandfather always calling it football (he was European) and commenting on how other Aussies he worked with referred to it as "wogball"...but I never heard it called that myself when I was a kidit was just soccer.
Spoiler warning:
I hope my triceps aren't so fucking sore on Monday because I have go sign up for a gym membership before work and actually start working out at the gym afterward lol. I'm gonna be starting StrongLifts 5x5 from the level of someone who has never lifted weights before, since I haven't tossed anything heavy around since 2004. I think 10 years is long enough to act like I've never done it before.
This.
Whenever I'm using English, I use Soccer instead of football.
Some people tended to go ''WTF, you watch football, King?'', when I'm not really a fan of said sport, and I'm refering to 'Futebol Soccer''.
AS LONG AS MY MESSAGE GOES THROUGH, I'm fine.![]()
I call American Football "Handegg" because very little of it has to do with a ball or feet.
Apparently, football was called soccer AND football in England until the 80's when the stopped calling it soccer for reasons.
Bloop!
Never heard of this. Maybe it was a bit more common back then but football's pretty much always been the de facto name here. Soccer is used as a nickname sometimes (I guess the same way some people might refer to American football as grid iron?) but it’s not really all that common and in most places will get you weird looks.![]()
