Game won't work [PSX] using ePSXe

I've downloaded Crash Team Racing and Gran Turismo and tried to play them but they both lag (or something else, I don't know) before the title screen (for instance, Crash Team Racing starts up okay but when it says "Sony Computer Entertainment America Presents", it won't go any further, it just plays the music. Same with Gran Turismo) Can you help?

Crash Team Racing PAL is protected so you need a sbi to run the game.

What is sbi and where can I get one?

Go to the guides and look at for the APE & ECM guide in there, there is a link to cue's and sbi's

the sbi file is used to act as sub data (most CD drives can't read that) that sub data is used by some PSX games as part of copy protection/mod chip protection in the form of Libcrypt often letting you actually play part of the game but preventing you from playing it correctly or fully others will just freeze the system, one game even tell you, you are playing a dodgy copy by one of the in-game characters.

using an sbi with ePSXe will let you bypass this protection

You will need P.E.Op.S. CDR Driver v.1.4 to allow you to use sbi files as sub data

In the config for that there are Sub Channel Reading options, use the drop box there to select the from sbi/m3s file option

An Extra box under should then be available for you to be able to load up an sbi file

then just boot the CD image as normal


To speed you emulator up though is basic 3D plugin are running too slow then switch to software plugin mode F7 I think it is (I sometimes forget what F key it is ), or you can play from scratch using software mode with the video plugin P.E.O.p'S Soft plugin

Nope disc images are fine, if you read the guide I told you to look for it explains most things to you
