There was a period where basically everyone with a computer was putting up a kickstarter. Fortunately it's died down a bit now and is mostly more serious products. There is of course still a fair bit of riff raff, but not like it was.

Yeah. The reason I think is because of the large fees associated with it. Its not a get rich quick site, it is literally just to kickstart a product. If and only if that product can survive on its own, then will the creator relish.
