    Joining the military would be a good thing, like Flava said, it teaches you discipline.

    And a bonus a lot of people forget, you have the potential to travel. Look at Sword, he is over in Japan right now, probably would have never in his lifetime gotten the opportunity to go to Japan otherwise.
    Even if you just got to another state, a change of scenery could be good for you

    The other reason I suggested those is so that you stay out of battle, there's no need to enter combat at all, the rates of PTSD and a variety of other mental illnesses is very high in veterans, look up the suicide rate for veterans for instance.
