Side note, I've gotten my Endurance up to 20, so I think it's time to move on to Dex since I'm using a Winged Spear and will probably continue using it for the forseeable future. Might get a small sword or dagger or some shit to lower my parryability.

Grab the Drake sword like most people do. I didn't bother with it personally but maybe that's why my melee character sux

Around the area where the dragon is (the one you get the Drake sword from) is an ok place to farm. Especially the rats. But there are some rapier + buckler dudes around there
