THE BEST METHOD to run PSX games (and everything else for that matter) is via Retroarch - http://buildbot.libretro.com/nightly/
If you have any questions on how to set it up on Windows please feel free to ask, its very easy.
Layin down enjoying the fun unleashing the power of the sun and capturing them all until I'm done.

has anyone heard something about gaming going strictly digital and closing down game stores? it sounds like a bunch of tripe to me personally.

Old news.... I wouldn't worry too much. Microsoft tried to push it when the introduced the Xbox One last year, and it blew up in their face.
Indie developers thrive with the digital market since they don't have to package games and pay minimal fees to list their games for purchase, so of course the big companies want to get on board with that because that's more money on the bottom line. However, the harsh truth of the matter is that a lot of gamers don't have internet access or the means to purchase games online, i.e. credit/debit card, so that hurts the big triple A games the long run.
The industry may be moving towards digital distribution, but it will probably be another 5 to 10 years or more before we truly get to that point.
Flava's last sentence nailed it. I'll stop with current gaming once it goes all digital but I'm sure I'll be in a big minority.
Pretty much same here. I'm sure I'll still play games to an extent after it moves to all-digital, but once a "digital only" console comes out, I'm pretty sure I'll be done at that point except for smallish indie titles or handheld games. I like my physical media -- I have a hard time dropping big money on just code.
I can't imagine playing without a console. When games go digital,I retire from new games. Not that it matters,I rarely play new games anymore. In a couple more years,I'll probably end up playing on old console exclusively.
same here. I like to own a product not see it all flushed down the drain when the console is rendered obsolete. there's a very good feeling to going up and rifling through the games at a game store and picking up that game and knowing that this one is supposed to come home with you, or going there and picking up a new game that you've been drooling over ever since its release. once gaming goes permanently digital, they can count me out.
All-digital works on computers and phones/tablets because most of the games are dirt cheap - with the latter we're often talking literal pennies - and if one day you do eventually end up locked out of your purchases, the platforms themselves are open enough you can find a way to get them working again. With consoles you don't have that option and people are rightfully going to be a bit miffed if half the stuff they bought on Xbox Live or PSN suddenly goes bye bye one day. So yeah, it's going to be interesting how Sony/Microsoft/etc. address that if the time comes.
Realistically I think the best long term option for consoles would be some sort of rental/streaming service with a monthly fee. Publishers get a steady stream of revenue, consumers aren't paying £40 a pop for games they never own and piracy gets a lot more difficult. PS+ is on the right track, but an actual video game Netflix for X amount per month would probably be ideal for most people. Hopefully that's what Sony are looking to do with Playstation Now, but who knows. It's early days and even when it does launch it'll probably be a while before either they or someone else figure out how to do it correctly.
Of course that's the best case scenario.
What's actually going to happen is we get slightly cheaper or free games loaded with micro transactions out the wazoo so kids can steal their parents' credit cards and rack up thousand pound bills buying extra lives and making their barbarian wear a sundress.
Enjoy!![]()

Heh you have no idea how many parents calledin to the Xbox call center line to check transactions and shit because of their kids back when I worked there. Happens well not frequently but it sure as heck wasnt uncommon![]()
On console I can understand physical, on PC you'll have to get used to it in many cases. Hell I bought a boxed copy of Dark Souls 2 just a few days ago and guess what, it activates on Steam. After you activate and add it to your Steam library you might as well toss the box and disc out the window.
I don't think we'll go full digital very soon though. Waaay too many people would complain and not everyone has a good enough net connection for it.
Oh and also I just want to say how retarded Nintendo's system is, the way games are tied to 3DS consoles. Which is why I'm considering going physical with future 3DS purchases.
You mean Shining Blade and Shining Ark? Played both, gameplay-wise they're both garbage. Only redeeming factor is possibly all the waifus you can collect but they're still not very good games.![]()
