Yep, got his ass after about 20 tries. He's just one of those really dirty bosses who basically will 1 hit you, no matter what armor and shield you are using, not to mention he has a metric ton of health. It's about a 15 minute battle... and you can't call in help from others either. It's just you and him.![]()
Man, I just backread the last couple pages and now I want Dark Souls 2 so bad! I really need to get through everything I've bought for the 3DS though. By the time I get around to it, all the graphics whores will have helped the price drop dramatically.
In other news, I've been meaning to ask if you guys had heard/read anything about the new Alien universe game that's supposed to be coming out. It's supposed to be more Alien and less Aliens, more survival horror and less space marines bisecting xenomorphs with automatic weapons.
You play as Ripley's daughter, who's trying to figure out what happened to the Nostromo. You'll get a motion detector, but you have to chose whether you want to focus your sight on the detector or on the surroundings, choose the wrong one and the alien might materialize from the shadows and punch a hole in you. Of course, it's still a FPS, so we'll see how it turns out in the end. Supposedly it's inspired by Bioshock, which I loved, and Dishonored, which I've never played.
I learned about it in Game Informer a couple months back, I think. I haven't played any recent Alien games to be able to hop on the complaint bandwagon. The last one was Alien Resurrection on the PSX. Before that was the rage inducing Aliens 3 on the SNES.

The new Alien game sounds great on paper and I am optimistic, despite the last few games being trainwrecks, but since you will be running from the same xenomorph over and over again I wonder if and how fast the concept will go stale.
I love that the devs are taking their chances and not focusing on the shootbang and I am very surprised that Sega allowed it. Gearbox screwing up royally on the last one probably made them more open to taking the series into a nee direction.
I have high hopes for Alien: Isolation. Devs are saying the xenomorph will pretty much actively hunt you in a "I CAN SMELL YOUR FEAR" sort of way, which sounds cool.
Spoilers, though: the protag will not die in the game since her date of death is confirmed in the movies at the age of 60-something. Way to rob it of all the suspense!
Oh and yes Haunting Ground was kinda terrifying, especially when the creepy maid starts chasing you.
