Cars are so stupid in uk. You have to pay 5000 different kinds of taxes and insurance and other bullshit like that. I don't understand why anyone would get a car. The only situation it would be useful IMO is when you have a 4 person family.

If you're in a major city you're fine. Other places can be a crapshoot though, don't be fooled. I live in a rural area and there are places here you absolutely cannot reach by public transport.
