    Not many will

There are too many huge seires of games that do have very good games but also have the odd bad egg in there

Silent Hill I love most the games even that wierd Wii one but then there is the Vita one and I still think 1 is the best it just need a graphics update

Most the Final Fantasy games are very good except III (Nes version and remakes) that was just dull for me, IX I never got into so can't comment much there was VIII has mixed opinions (I liked it even if the theory was flawed) X again mixed opinions, X-2, just what... over all Final Fantasy is great, though not sure you can call it a series though

Resident Evil, yes I do love these games, but I would not say each next game was better than the previous one, as much as I loved 5 I'm not so sure it beats 4 though to be honest that is a close one if you are only looking at the main series (including Veronica), so no light gun ones and no Outbreak ones or Merc ones, I'm sure I missed something there, not sure if Revelations can be counted though I don't think it improved at anything technical it is still a very good game and continues the story

Project Zero.. hmm I would say yes to that, only 4 main games and they do seem to improve each time while still giving us a new story

Grand Theft Auto... Yes and no, if you could the Stories series nope even though they are good 4 I thought was good but not as good as San Andreas 5 thankfully was much more, still not sure it was a San Andreas beater but it is very good anyway, over all though graphics and engine GTA has always gotten better with each new game, even the Stories games improved on the games they are based on.. not so sure of the Vice City Stories but the other one certainly did EDIT I clean forgot about China Wars :/ though that was originally DS game so could be considered a side spin off

Metal Gear yeah I like to think that one has (I refuse to include Raiden's game in that though ) MG1 and 2 (MSX versions) then the Solid Series PSX and re-make PS2 2 & 3 then 4, PSP games not counted

To be honest I do like RE4 over 5 too and I would include Veronica in that of course as it was still the old school style. Tough pick between 2 and 3 as well but having Nemesis chase you around was great and the different paths you can take too. And 2 is well 2, its fantastic.

I was just trying to bug Elmdor as well

F-Zero in my opinion is the only series that got better over time.

What about Revelations, that to be fair is a good game though that is originally a 3DS game and I have not played the PS3 version of it that I may buy just so I have a TV screen to play it on, plus I wouldn't mind seeing what online features it has on the PS3 if any. Not 100% sure when that one got released, I also loved the remake of the first game even though I would still play both versions and even Resident Evil Zero that I thought was great and a nice gap filler for the over all story around the Mansion/Original City location Loved the map integration of Resi 2 and 1 mixed in together

Megami Ibunroku Persona, and the following Persona games, were always their own series in the greater MegaTen franchise. In the US, it falls under Shin Megami Tensei, like everything else, because that's the most well known branding.

Well, in the US release of Sacred Stones' defense, they actually made that game more balanced, because the Japanese version had promoted enemy units with the same stats at a given level as their unpromoted class counterparts and the trainee units had pretty nice stat growths for all 50 of their levels.

Of course, since they didn't do enough, FESS is still one of the easiest games ever in the series and still a serious step down from Blazing Sword... which in itself was a step down from Sealed Sword. Which was a step down from Thracia 776.

A more retro one for you

Shining Force, obviously the Main series so Shining Force and Shining Force II for the Megadrive/Genesis then Shining Force III scenario's 1 2 and 3 (Premium CD was just a bonus)

Later Shining Games are totally different, the series ends with the trio of Shining Force III 5 games in total, there is a prequal but the game is completly different so does not fit the main series called Shining in the Darkness or Shining and the Darkness (Think one is the Jap name name for it, I forget, it's a nice but rather dated 3D dungeon crawler, but uses the classic Shining Force battle system ish, I say ish because it's not a strategy game, also for the Megadrive/Genesis, the tome line is also debated for that one be it before or after Shining Force)

Shining Force CD was a side story game taken from the GameGear games and are not part of the main series but still good but lack some of the game play from the Megadrive/Genesis games

Oh yeah the REmake was very well done. Never really played 0 though, it's yet another old backlog game. Haven't gotten to revelations yet, Gare recommended it to me not long ago. I need to beat some stuff and free up some space first

Why no? I thought the first GBA game was great, I loved the map they used in SS, the skill system in PoR, the factions in Radiant Dawn, Shadow Dragon's reclassing system, and Awakening's combo of a bunch of those things. Keep in mind I limited my statement to the Fire Emblems released in North America. I haven't played any of the others although I have them all on my HDD with the fan translations for when my backlog gets a little more lean.

I would say Zelda works in this context.

    Spoiler warning:

I won't break it down too far, but the first game was critically acclaimed and is still regarded as one of the best games for the NES. Zelda II is sometimes panned as being the worst of the series, but it's still at least on par, if not better than most of the games that came out during that generation.

Then Link to the Past came out, and if people didn't already love Zelda, they did now. Perfected the foundation laid out in the first game, improved on controls, added a wide array of weapons that would become staples for the rest of the series. This is widely regarded as one of, if not the best game in the series, and consistently ranks as one of the top games of the '90s.

And then, Ocarina of Time. A huge game at the time, Ocarina presented the game we loved with an epic story and a huge world to explore. The first 3D entry, and one of the first games ever to introduce any kind of targetting system, making attacking and moving through a 3D world much easier and more effective. Many people regard this as one of the best games of all time, although it hasn't held up as well to due to its polygon graphics, which is a problem many of the first polygon console games has faced.

Majora's Mask was released shortly after Ocarina and received huge critical acclaim. While it received a bit of flak from die-hard Zelda fanatics for featuring a different focus of gameplay, which was less about exploration and story and more about Link's interaction with a many of the NPC characters and focused more on time-travel and less about the standard Hero Quest, it has an incredibly devout following and is referred to by many as the better of the N64 titles, as well as consistently being referred to as one of the best games on the system, sometimes ahead of its predecessor.

Wind Waker followed with a different approach to its graphic presentation, featuring more cartoony graphics that moved away from the "realism" present in Ocarina of Time, but refocused the story on the standard Hero's Quest. It offered a more indepth look at some of the lore of the series while expanding the world to several tiny islands. It also reintroduced the "enemy overload" featured in LOZ and LTTP -- sometimes walking into a room meant battling a dozen enemies at a time rather than just two or three, which focused combat on less of a button-mashing affair and introduced parrying and small sword combos, which would start to be featured more in later titles.

Twilight Princess shifted the story back to its roots of Hero's Quest, Link vs. Ganondorf, and featured a heavy focus on sword combos and attacks. Its also the grittiest visual style out of any of the Zelda games, focusing more on realism than cartoon. While playing as a shapeshifted Wolf was a heavy departure from the story laid out in the rest of the series, Twilight Princess expanded on well-known locations and races, and highlighted what many players were clamouring for -- more swordplay, and a heavier emphasis on the Good v. Evil battle between Link and Ganondorf.

I haven't played Skyward Swords yet, so I won't comment at all on that game. And I omitted the Gameboy titles, because they don't follow a cohesive storyline (I haven't played most of the GBA titles). Still, that paints a pretty good picture of just how fantastic and well loved this series is. To illustrate the point, no console based Zelda game released since LTTP has ever scored lower than a 90 (LOZ and Z2 scored in the mid-80s according to Wiki, but those are all later reviews so it's hard to say how indicitive they are of reviews at the time). On Metacritic, the lowest scoring console based game was Skyward Sword, scoring 93/100. Of the handheld games, they all score at least an 85/100. It's odd for a series to be consistently good across all of their titles, but Zelda is one of the rare ones where every entry is a solid, well loved release with very few misses, and it's even rarer when spanning two decades.

    I'm done now.
