Default Capcom CPS & Neo Geo - Arcade Perfect Set

I was wondering if the Capcom CPS1, CPS2 and Neo Geo systems have a clean set similar to the No-Intro collection? Is the Capcom CPS and Neo Geo complete sets from the main page clean? I would like to run these games on the Kawaks emulator.

Sadly there is no Perfect set, only sets that work with different versions of MAME and FBA, i would advise you to google Kawaks complete rom set or something like that.
THE BEST METHOD to run PSX games (and everything else for that matter) is via Retroarch - http://buildbot.libretro.com/nightly/
If you have any questions on how to set it up on Windows please feel free to ask, its very easy.

The cleanest most up to date sets are the MAME sets but that is not to say Kawaks can run those

MAME will even tell you if game x is currently using bad dumps or parts of the set just not dumped at all

I would be tempted to say move to FBA if MAME is not your thing that I can't blame anyone for not wanting MAME, it is confusing to a lot of users, not me

FBA is still a great little emulator though and good for the systems you wish to play

I decided to go use Kawaks v1.62 with the complete Neo Geo & CPS sets from the emuparadise main page. There is a newer version of Kawaks (v1.63) but I would not recommend using that because a lot of parent roms are missing. I tried the complete sets and individual roms from the mame section but many games are not recognized (not sure why?).

Tried Final Burn Alpha last year but could never get any games to run. Is there a step by step guide somewhere?

FBA and Kawaks run much the same way but use different rom sets, you obviously had roms that just did not work with FBA, can't claim to of had that much trouble getting either to work or any other arcade emulators, there are plenty around.

I will be making a FBA set for my xbox soon though.

But if you want to create a clrmamepro dat file it is easy enough to do then you can build a perfect rom set from both mame roms and other sets into a FBA or Kawaks set.

Clrmamepro is the best tool for creating sets for certain emulators on the net.

You can both create dat files directly for emulator exe files or just download dats for certain versions, but older dat files will be harder to find now.

http://mamedev.emulab.it/clrmamepro/download.htm the main prog clrmamepro (can be used for anything not just mame sets, been using that for my Dreacast GDI's converting my TOSEC Dreamcast set to the Trurip set that is more up to date but uses a different naming system, but using clrmamepro I just set it away and let it rename everything for me, even add files that are missing, by using the rebuild option)

http://www.logiqx.com/Dats/ is a good place for arcade dats (including Kawaks and FBA) a bit out of date though

    Thanks Zorlon

I tried using Clrmampro before but could not figure it out.... When people start mentioning dat files and conversion, I just freeze like a deer about to get hit by an incoming car. I feel embarrassed that a program that is probably really simple to learn gives me such a hard time.

Maybe someone can post complete sets that are compatible with different emulators. I sent Cyber Puppet a message in hopes he re-uploads the arcade roms sets on Hotfile to a different server.

Sorry, I'm not lazy, just have a hard time understanding how these programs work

Kawaks 1.62 works just fine. Version 1.63 is the one were many games are not recognized if using the complete arcade sets or mame roms from the main page. Do you have a link to the dat files that matches v.1.63?

I'm in the middle of a huge fix so will be out for a few days but yeah I'm sure I can make a dat if there is not one online

You will have to wait as my clrmamepro is fixing some dreamcast stuff for me at the moment and you can't run a second copy of it

Should be done is a day or so, the files are big as it's a GDI set (Gigabyte Disc Image) the size of the actual disc images are all apx 1.2GB and I am unzipping and rezipping them all with all new file names

EDIT: I got WinKawaks... it has it's own feature to generate a dat file

and from what I read in the Whats New text file it uses Mame roms from version 0.148

    How could you miss that

I saw a message about how sweet the WinKawaks emulator is (v1.62) and with the complete Neo Geo & Capcom CPS Rom set 1 and 2, everything couldnt be sweeter, every game works as it should and not just that you can max out the graphics, WinKawks emulator is also very easy to use unlike some other emulators.

Most Arcade emulators including mame are very easy to use if you have the correct roms

Although I can't say WinKawaks is junk or anything it is good but it is far from the best out there for Arcade emulation.
