Shakespeare's English isn't *that* different from today's. In fact it falls under Early Modern English. Go back to Middle English, or even better, Old English, and then you see something that might as well be a completely different language altogether.

Oh and yes at first I feared I wouldn't understand you when we talked but you have so little of the "hardcore Scottish" accent that I didn't have any problems at all.

I pity youI don't really have a Scottish accent.I moved around too much to ever properly pick up the accents of any of the places I lived in, and I was such a quiet kid anyway that I learned more of my English from TV and movies than the Scottish people around me. My accent is sort of a muddle of lots of different places. Most Scottish people are surprised that I'm actually from here. I've had people guess England, Australia, Ireland, America (the guy in question was American. I didn't get it either...), France, Russia, Poland, Norway... But very rarely Scotland. :'D
