I have tried to install three different wireless devices in my parents computer, two PCI cards and one USB device, all three of which give me error 37's despite these devices working fine on other computers.

I'm not a fanboy, either way
Got way more Sony consoles than M$, but for current gen my preference was really about hardware price initially. Just turned out a little better because some of my favourite games seem a little more stable on it.
I'll be getting a PS3 soon because they're cheap now.

But for next gen, I won't be doing anything for a few years.

I think that's an issue with drivers. Use a wired connection and try to get updated drivers for the wireless device.

In all three cases I used the most up to date drivers straight from the site.
