New to this and need an idiot guide please?

Hello

I am new to all this and after seeing a video on youtube of Simcity (the 1989 original) My husband suggested finding an emulator so I could play the game.

So please could someone help with an idiot guide?

I have a windows 7 Dell inspiron duo crap book - but i may have possible access to a xbox 360 if hubby lets me! lol

I have downloaded the tos file and the St file - but i have no idea what i need to do next???

Here is a quick guide for the PC game

If so you could do with Dosbox that emulates Dos and supports both Sin City and Sim City Advanced as well as a few other Sim City games

The DosBox Wiki has great info on setting the thing up but also has front ends listed that should make things easy to setup and new users find it hard to setup sometimes, I don't think it's hard to set up but if you don't know how then yes it will be hard to set up.

You should be able to copy the SimCity game contents to a folder on your comp then run dosbox

say you have a folder on your comp called C:\games\SimCity

in dosbox type

mount C C:\games\SimCity

then then hit enter, next type

C:\

hit enter and type

simcity




I have already done a quick test of this myself, I did not use a front end myself but if you do you can save it so you don't need to go through setting the C drive up and even set it to auto run the game as an individual game setup and even make a short cut (depends on the front end)

The copy of the game I tested is here just extract the contents of the zip file to the folder you want to use for the game, if you want to use my example that would be the folder simcity inside the folder games of your C drive




If you wanted the play the Atari ST or Amiga versions then that is something else to go through, I will recomend Amiga emulation over ST emulation though and can go through either if you are not happy with the PC version both require a little more messing with to setup for play of SimCity

I have downloaded the emulator and the rom but I still don't seem to have much luck, each time I click on the files it come up with the crap about windows not being able to open the file??? i tried going through the Atari emulator to load the game but it still doesn't seem to like me.

Any ideas anyone?

Cool let me know how it goes and if you still want to go through Amiga or Atari ST I can guide you through either of those as well, neither is that hard to do once you know how to do it.

It has been some years since I played with emulating those but I will test on my end and then step you through those, once they are setup it is easy enough to run those.
