Also, while Phantasy Star 1-3 have aged badly, 4 remains awesome to this day, and is for my money up there with the best 16-bit RPGs out there. Which, given some of the stuff on the SNES, is high praise~!

If you ever attempt Star Ocean again 1 and 2 are on the psp and highly recommend those versions.
You mentioned Parasite Eve and don't know if you were comparing them but they're not very alike
