You can cut a lot off the time taken to beat Emerald Weapon by rigging one of your characters to do all lucky sevens at the start. Go and fight a really easy random battle, cast Mini on one of your characters, attack another character for one damage at a time until the last two digits of their HP are 77, and then run away and use Hi-Potions / Potions to set it to 7777. I don't think it's quite enough to kill Emerald on its own, but you can follow it with Ultima / 4x Cut with Ultima Weapon a few times, and it'll probably be over. It was how I did it the last time I played too, as I couldn't be bothered doing chocobos for Knights of the Round.![]()
Yeah, there are quite a few ways to do it.I did it with W-Summon + HP Absorb + Mime + KOTR the first time. I think Lucky 7s is probably the laziest way, though, since you don't really need to master anything to do it, and even if your HP isn't high enough to get to 7777, you can just buy and equip a bunch of HP+s.
I've only ever defeated Ultima Weapon.
To be honest, the other stuff isn't particularly worth doing anyway. :'D It's not hard as such, so it doesn't offer any real sense of achievement, and the in game rewards it gives you are pretty useless by the time you're actually powerful enough to obtain them. It's just time consuming.

THE BEST METHOD to run PSX games (and everything else for that matter) is via Retroarch - http://buildbot.libretro.com/nightly/
If you have any questions on how to set it up on Windows please feel free to ask, its very easy.
The knights of the round way I think was one of the first popular ways of doing it - great for Ruby weapon if you can chain enough of them.
It's worth doing it once just to do it but yeah it's pretty useless by then. I always go after Emerald for the hell of it but leave Ruby alone. I tend to go up to a black chocobo and leave it at that too.
