So, I had to install PS3MediaServer to get the PS3 see my PC through the new DSL router. Stupid, no?

That's odd, that you had to use that program. I use apache for sending files to my ps3 because if you click download on a file from the internet it allows you to download in background and apache is easy as hell to use.
