After a while (2~4 weeks in my case IIRC), body gets used to the workout.
Then again, no pain, no gain, or so I've been taught.

Oh yeah, it definitely has to be done.

I'm pretty out of shape, so I hope all it takes is a few weeks to a month to kinda get used to it. Though my buddy I work out with is all about it. So once my body gets used to it I'm sure he'll start ramping it up and killing me yet again.
