Default Need a little help emulating Castlevania Chronicles

Hey guys, I'm new here. I hope I'm not posting this in the wrong subforum.

To immediately clarify: I'm not a complete noob and I did get CvChronicles to work properly using pSX 1.13 (I also tried it with ePSXe and AdriPSX but those would crash while navigating the menus)

However, what I'm trying to do with it requires more than just getting the game to work. I also need save states, which pSX does, as well as the ability to shut off music emulation (without also shutting off sound effects) and turn it back on in mid-game.

Do you guys know of any emulator that can accomplish all three of these things (running CvC properly, feature save states at least 5 slots and allow to turn off music emulation)?

Thanks in advance for any and all help you may offer... and again, my apologies if this is the wrong place to post this.

Well Ive played Castlevania Chronicles just fine up to the second boss and it worked on PSXfin. you go to file, configuration and in misc you can go and enter a button on your keyboard not used for anything else and use that to mute and unmute music.

save states you use file again liek before and go to save state and enter a name like Chronicles and save that. then when you want to load it go to load state.

Ah, unfortunately that mutes the sound effects also, doesn't it? I only want to mute the music while keeping the sound effects.

    But thank you anyway

Do not think this can be done for this game.

It may work with some games that use CDDA for Music and XA for general in-game sounds, then just mute or disable CDDA

Castlevania Chronicles does not have CDDA tracks though

The PSX is not the only machine to have this game though, it is originally for the Sharp x86000 under the name Akumajo Dracula that may have more options for sound via emulation (Not looked at sharp x86000 for a good long time though)

Ah, I was afraid that may be the case (I tried the "decrease XA volume" button and it had absolutely no effect), but I wanted to be sure before either wasting my time trying other emulators or simply giving up and try thinking of a different approach.

Thanks for clearing that up, now I know what my options are.
