How do you have the Saturn hooked up? Scart->Component? I tried out my NeoGeo MVS on my roomy's Samsung LCD today, through component hookups. Wow! It looked like utter shit! Looks like I'll hang onto my Toshiba boat anchor for a little while longer.

Scart (through some conversion nonsense) running through the VP30.

    Spoiler warning:

It will look a bit better once I get the scan line generator.

You don't even WANT to know how it looks with component cords.

Because scan lines make everything better.

That looks pretty nice actually. Way better than my buddy's Samsung looked. I've seen some nice setups with the scan line generators and they look pretty good. It just seems like a lot of hassle and extra purchases(converters/upscalers/scan line generators) to get retro consoles to look good on newer TVs. Was really thinking of buying a newer TV, but now I don't think I will. The good majority of the games I play are on older consoles. I'll just put the money I would've toward an arcade cab or two.

All of this is very true. The $ adds up in a hurry. When it's all said and done I'll still be playing PS1/2 on my CRT beast most of the time (this makes it so that I just have to have a PS2 hooked up to it). I know I ranted on it before but basically everything looks better than PS2 on an HDTV. Everything else will be with this set-up.

Edit: Random rambling here: I really wish that Saturn devs weren't worried about pumping out OMG TEH 3Dz games. Many of the 2D games on it look fantastic but they are too few in number. Saturn/PS1 3D is usually vomit inducing. Pre-rendered backgrounds look okay on PS1, that's about it. Also, Saturn looks SO much better than PS1. I wish the Saturn would have lasted as long and we could have seen what later releases would have looked like.

Depending on my paycheque tonight, I'm ordering approx. 200 box protectors for my complete NES games.

I hate it when images are bigger than they appear.

Christ, cool it with the huge images. All I saw was a massive eye staring at me.

They sell PET acid free plastic archive cases for almost all of the retro systems. Prices are great, too.

I know that feel. Having a 1080p monitor is a curse and a blessing.
