Man I wish my mom never sold all my old nes games at a garage sale years ago.

I do this a lot, especially shortly after I've made an expensive purchase (like Contra Force, Bubble Bobble Part 2, Zombie Nation, etc), just to see how screwed I actually was.

We definitely aren't the only ones watching this game.

Same here, but I know I didn't have anything particularly rare in there. I can remember most, if not all, of the games that I had when I was a kid. I've reacquired almost all of the games from my childhood, or will have once Pacman arrives. (Although I had the unlicensed Tengen version growing up, and I bought the licensed one).

I've also contemplating getting a CIB Tengen collection, just 'cause the boxes look nice and they're fairly cheap.

Yeah it's pretty awful. I had a nice little trade package worked out (a couple scarce RPGs with their accompanying strategy guides). I was hoping to get one of Albert Odyssey ($140), Magic Knight Rayearth ($140) and Dragonforce ($110). Realistic shipped prices for NM copies in parenthesis, all are that price and up (don't let ebay trick you, the listings for Albert Odyssey for 80-100 that look complete actually have the bulk of the manual torn out (this is very gross btw, it really makes my heart hurt when I see copies like that)). Took about an hour to get through the negotiations but in the end I'm sending $150 in value (somewhat subjective, could be more, could be less based on what I've seen) for $165 in value (pretty firm).

A complete CIB collection of Tengen releases would look awesome! I'm very slowly getting there with cart-only.

    $$$$$$$$$$$

I never had a gigantic US Saturn collection. I did have a very nice SCD collection and a near 100% US RPG PS1 collection though.

Did you at least get wined and dined first?

I've been stalking every auction for a couple games right now to study trends for when I should be trying to snipe a listing.

That's definitely a fair deal in my eyes. I really need to get on clearing out some of my duplicates that I've been meaning to sell for ages. I wouldn't mind having a couple extra bucks in my Paypal account.

I have no idea what's rare or not but I did have quite a few so maybe there was a gem or 2 in there.

Didn't get shit all. It was after I left home the first time so I couldn't even do shit about it. What really hurts was my toy collection. And what hurts even more is the prices she sold shit for.

Yeah I have some money to blow through after selling a spare Eureka Seven anime set I got. Feels good man. Of course I'm probably going to blow through the rest of it tomorrow at that sale I mentioned before. I bought some shit to make my Saturn look beautiful (or something like that) while playing it upscaled on my hdtv. 5x BNC Female to RCA Male Adapter-Gold Plated, Sega Saturn stereo RGB SCART cable for NTSC (Japanese, US), SCART to BNC and RCA. Because using regular AV is for rubes right?

Ouch. And yeah, I was forced to trade in all my N64 stuff when I was a child because I kept arguing with Shar about playing it. Over 50 games all NM CIB and the console was effing CIB too. Got a pile of cash at the time, which was then spent on a shitty-ass ink-jet printer. LETS CRY TOGETHER.

Definitely. And there are only about 20 games, so it wouldn't even take long unless I waited for absolute mint copies of everything.

I might have to start pricing this out.

Never know. It hurts me to think back to my childhood games and know that my mom sold them for about $2-$3 in a garage sale.

My worst offender was my old Magic cards though. Don't even want to talk about that.

A guy I work with is massively into Magic. He's told me the values on some of those rare cards and I damn near shat myself.

I think my mom sold them all for a buck a piece. Her reasoning on garage sales is to get rid of shit - not to make money. But I guess that was probably in the infancy of any nes cart collecting anyways but still.

Yeah. I could have bought a decent car with what was burned when my mom went through this weird phase.

THAT FELT AWFUL TO TALK ABOUT.

You know who made it better though? Jakub Kindl.

This is the kind of shit I live for. Buying someone's childhood for pennies.
