It's Baldur's Gate with less bugs and 1920x1080 resolution support. It also has a couple of extra characters too. Other than that, It's still the Baldur's Gate you know and love

The important question is if the mods would work for it. They are quite important. They probably add way more than what this new release adds.

I'm sure they do add a lot more, and I have no idea if they're compatible or not. Speaking of mods - Planescape:Torment sure has a shitload of them

    Broken.

It had a couple of almost game breaking bugs in it but I hear they've been dealt with by now with the patches/updates so that's good. And it had no multiplayer at the time either. I "grabbed" it the day it came out.

The enhanced features really aren't all that much to write home about. I suppose it's nice to play in a higher resolution and to be able to zoom in and out albeit not by much which of course are handled in the mods for the original anyways and it's nice not having the level cap and having most of the changes made in BG2 thrown in like spells and shit (I think) which you can mod once again in the original anyhow. I kept one of the new characters throughout the game (when I got him) and was really well done but overpowered (the half-orc dude, can't remember his name) The entire game takes up much less space which probably isn't much of a concern for most people but it is for me and I found that nice. And the little extra game/expansion thingy they added was absolutely horrid. Still it's Baldurs Gate which in any form simply wins

And I'm still an advocate of an EP playthrough again sometime since I missed out on the last one when I lost my net at the time not long before they started

If you already have a fully modded original it's prolly best to stick with that, I wouldn't be surprised if someone has modded that to include the new characters and side quests for them by now anyways. And I do believe a bunch of the mods for the original will still work with it you just have to research that a tad - I know a couple won't work but can't remember any of the details.

I picked it up about a month after it's release, and didn't have any issues with it at all. Multiplayer worked, and it actually was cross-platform too (ipad/pc). Same as you, I picked up that Orc dude, can't remember his name either, and held on to him for the whole game. He was pretty good. I also picked up a girl too - a wild wizard - who wasn't bad, but she was pretty sporadic with her casting so I had to let her go eventually.

Yeah mine is too but I don't think you need a super connection for it.

Probably, I'd just have to find them. This last playthrough I was playing with some added quests, including the ones that were removed for no reason before release.

Satellite net so the latency is super high. I can't even play games that I was able to play on dial-up. I'm really hoping there will be a better option once my locked in contract is up.
