I just don't understand how a hardcore collector thinks.. But I guess everybody's got a thing.

So Europe and Japan never saw this exclusive version of clay fighters?
I wonder how much a sealed copy of that game would go for... If such a thing exist.

You are right that must be an oddity, I could never remember ever getting any instruction manual with games from blockbuster. I do remember renting that game from my local blockbuster it came out very early in the n64s life I believe.

Came out in early-to-mid '97, so yeah, within the launch window/shortly after it. The collector's mindset is "I want to own every game released for the N64," and when you come down to the last few that you need, it's either "pay a shitload of money to beat the other collectors to the punch" or "hope I come across it in the wild at a reasonable price." Some people with do the first option (I'm guilty of that because of my location) and some people will do the second option (takes longer, but is easier on the wallet).

I've spent thousands of dollars on retro games. I've paid hundreds of dollars for single games before on multiple occasions. I understand the mindset, even if I think it's gotten out of hand recently. $1200 is a lot for an instruction manual. However, if I ever saw a Stadium Events instruction manual for $1200, I'd pounce on that sucker in an instant. It's all a matter of interest.

I remember not being allowed to buy many n64 games. Parents and all...I'm lucky enough to still own my CIB smash bros though. As well as CIB Athena.

I have no idea what happened to my CIB N64 games from when I was a kid. I didn't sell them, they just seem to have disappeared during my many moves. I had Mario 64, Mario Kart, Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Shadows of the Empire, Command & Conquer, Ocarina of Time, Jet Force Gemini, and a couple of sport titles. I can't remember what else, but I'm sure there were one or two more.

All I have left now are a cart only copy of Starfox 64 and Goldeneye, and a CIB Gold Edition Ocarina of Time.

Speaking of spending untold amounts of money on video games, I'm bidding on a copy of Duck Tales 2 right now, merely because it's still cheap-ish and the auction is almost over. Someone take my credit cards away from me, please.

I have a very modest collection and rarely does it get added to. Unless I think I'm getting a good deal, I've trained myself to just walk away. I usually spend a day or two thinking about it afterwards but I get over it. That's why I mostly get stuff from the wild.

Like the other day I saw a copy of TMNT Manhattan Project for $25 at a shop. Have been looking for it in the wild forever cause I'm a TMNT nut. I looked at it for probably a good 10 min. then walked away heartbroken

The most I ever spent on a game itself is 300 dollars on the ni no kuni white witch box set. I have kept it sealed and plan on selling it one day. So do you at least enjoy the physical copies of these games or do you just put them on display?

I'd love to find a copy of Stadium Events.... In the wild..

I caught my brothers friend stealing my copy NTSC u copy dragonball gt final bout.... Once....people can't be trusted.

Some disc games have value. Not many, though.

I have that CIB. I think I paid ~$30 for mine, all told. $25 is a little steep for cart only TMNT3, but definitely not unheard of. It seems to be hovering around $20-$25 right now on eBay, bit less if you get lucky.

I play a lot of them, but probably about 50% go on my shelf and never get touched again. Most of those are sports titles, puzzle games, or those lame gambling games like Caesar's Palace/Vegas Dreams. There were a lot of shit games for the NES that aren't worth more than a cursory glance.

And the most I've ever spent on a game was just shy of $700.

I'm sure your shelves must look insanely delicious. When I finally get my BSN and a real job, Id love to own a complete Super Nintendo collection. I'd probably only collect Nintendo stuff, but who knows.

Wow what game was that if you don't mind me asking?

My NES shelves look freaking delicious. Most of my collection is boxed/complete, which makes for very sexy looking shelves. And I own a complete copy of Bubble Bobble Part 2 in very good condition. Box has some heavy wear on the left front face, but otherwise it and all its contents are mint.
