Default Whats wrong with bin/cue files??

I have for many years downloaded games and burned them. One day I no longer could, because all my file types
started do end up as VLC files, so I could not burn them. If I tried to converting the file to ISO, eighter it all get
wrong or ALL burning programs accepted it and created some kind of ISO, but when I wanted to burn it, ALL my
    burning programs said wrong format.

I allways ask the same question, because I can´t play the games, and so get the wrong answers for my problem,
so I decided to send a link, to a game I tried to download, with ended up as VLC, as allways, I allso heard other
persons had the same problem and get the wrong answer like me. People often tend to say, "So open the burning
program, and you could burn". No I could not burn, or get the files to work, as the burning program don´t get the
    burning to work.

It is not about file associations, rather the format the file is. If I download an ISO file for a game, i don´t want to
end up with a VLC (bin/cue) file with no program understand

Of cause I´m glad people try to help me, the problem is that their help don´t help me at all in this case...

I add this game, as a test or, more of a help, of how to maybe fix this problem. A link to the remake of: Phantasy
Star 2, it´s pretty small so it will not take so long time to download.

Most file types aren't exclusive to any particular program, which is in fact where file associations come into play. For example, while you would never try opening a text file in a media player, it's possible to associate the .txt format with say, VLC on your system, making it so that when you try to open any text files, it opens VLC instead. Try loading your files directly through the program you use to burn them, rather than through double-clicking (I assume this is where it tries opening them in VLC?).

To change the association, right click the file, and choose "Open with" instead of "Open". Then, pick the program you wish to use with that file type, and make sure the "Always use the selected program" checkbox near the bottom is checked.
"I think that the problem with this video is it is highly derivative of many popular bands within the genre. Although when viewed on its own merits, it does have a deeper groove. However what it has in groove, it lacks in originality. One can't help but be reminded of such bands as Pearl Jam, White Zombie, Suicidal Tendencies and other bands that bear the mantle of so called "Alternative Rock". One is even reminded of Lorie Anderson when she wore curlers. Hehehmhm! This video speaks less to the heart and more to the sphincter. In closing, I think Korn would do well to learn more from -"

The problem here is I allready did that many times, but nothing happening. Of cause the association works, but the file is still VLC
and do not work at all. It must have to do with VLC player. Whet I uninstalled the player once, the game files could no longer find
VLC, or any compatible format, that could work, and neighter file association worked. The only thing that worket was the VLC bin/
    cue format

It's only the cue you want to open those by anyway

It makes zero difference if bin is associated with VLC or not (BIN can be played via VLC if it is a VCD image)

file association does nothing when emulating or burning

converting to iso is a huge mistake you will of lost all cdda tracks if the game has any (iso format can't store CDDA tracks) and if you used something like Magic ISO or one of it's clones for converting Playstation software you will have lost the XA headers used with playstation format video and sound files, making the disc either not play at all or make it crash when attempting to play sound or video that is now corrupt

Just burn it with ImgBurn via the cue file to a CD not a DVD (open the cue from Imgburn or right click and hit open with Imgburn, either would work even with the file associated with VLC)

My bin and cue files are associated with vlc and burning them works just fine, this is not the reason you are having problems

If burning to a CD with ImgBurn is not working then give us the log so I can at least see what type of errors you are getting, if it's not even getting into ImgBurn then what error are you getting at that point

Again file association has nothing to do with the issues you are having

At a guess I would say you are trying to burn a CD image onto a DVD that is not possible to do successfully and most the time will report either wrong format or wrong media type

If you are windows vista/7 you can use this very useful program to delete the association of Bin to VLC,

    http://www.winhelponline.com/blog/un...ndows-7-vista/

no installing and its very small.
THE BEST METHOD to run PSX games (and everything else for that matter) is via Retroarch - http://buildbot.libretro.com/nightly/
If you have any questions on how to set it up on Windows please feel free to ask, its very easy.

Well the example is a CD that is why you had been getting the error because a CD image is not ment for a DVD disc.

P.S. Do you have a method to play these on a console to play these?? if so what method?

At risk of being off topic, it still makes absolutely no sense that he wouldn't be able to at least change the association through the Open With dialog :/ strange.

You have extracted the disc image the IMG file is a file that is on the disc it is not a disc image though

You are trying to open a file that is not a disc image

The file you open is the (vlc.bin cue) to be exact it is the cue file

Hint. wait till you have some CD's

You can convert to DVD but that can be complicated to do (not sure I should of even mentioned that :/)

SLES and SLUS files are the main exec of the games they again are not CD image files, but PSX and PS2 executable files, i.e. they are exe files for PSX and PS2 consoles only

SLES and SLUS files should be inside of a disc image but are not disc images on there own, you don't burn them directly, in fact you should never be able to see them unless you are extracting the contents of a disc image that should never be done

It seems you're extracting the files that you've downloaded which is the source of your problem.

First, you need to enable extentions in windows, to do so, open my computer->Choose tools from the file menu->Choose folder Option->View Tab->Untick "Hide Extention for known types"

(Your windows seems to be in another language, so I'll tell you which buttons you have to push in case you can't translate them: My computer->Verktyg->Last button->Second Tab->Untick the 8th tick box)

This will show you file extentions. All files have extentions (for example: example.jpg, example.txt, example.exe) The three letters that come after the "." are called the extension or "file type"

Now, in the files you've downloaded, you need to find the file which has the ".cue" extension, and burn it using imgburn.
