Awesome man!Another rare one to check off the list. So many good deals on NintendoAge forums.
Funny thing about Zombie Nation. Is that it's one of the few games that was censored in Japan but uncensored in North America. The main "character" is the decapitated head of an ancient samurai warrior. I guess the Japanese found it too offensive and changed the decapitated head sprite to something a bit less gory.
Actually reading up on it on here. I got it a bit wrong. I guess the original(Japanese) version had a Tengu head as the protagonist. While over here it was changed to a decapitated samurais head. Also some of the bosses were changed such as the Statue of Liberty(Japan) To Medusa(NA). Looks like it kind of got the Totally Rad treatment and basically got a somewhat global graphic change. I really don't know why though. Sorry for the previous misinformation.![]()
That's still pretty awesome. I can somewhat understand why they would change the Statue of Liberty. And I could imagine that they thought the Tengu head wouldn't have any significance whatsoever to the majority of NA players.
I'll have to give that article a more thorough read. It sounds interesting.![]()
Yeah, back in the NES days if a game had any kind of eastern mythology or culture. It was usually stripped and replaced with something that us westerners could recognize and relate to. Thankfully now that eastern culture has permeated the west it doesn't happen to often anymore.
I really do love that Hardcore Gaming 101 site. I've spent countless hours reading it's many articles.
Okay, someone should come over here and make me dinner now.I'm starving. I might have to actually put on pants and run out for some Chinese or something.
I'm toying between making tuna melts, or Chinese. This is a much harder decision that it needs to be.![]()
