Default Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep Final Mix, can't patch English patch without PSP?

Hey everyone, I searched a bit and haven't seen any recent updates about this game, so I figured I'd make a new topic.

I downloaded the game off of the links here on the site, and got the English patch, however some of the instructions for the patch require having a PSP. I've seen screenshots of people running the game properly in JPCSP, so I figure I'm either doing something wrong in my patch process (IE, no psp, no decrypting), or I just need to download a pre-patched version (searched for links on this site, they appear to be dead).

I was able to extract the DAT files using UMDGen and was able to patch them. When I insert them and save a new iso, I'm able to read it and start the game, but after the cutscenes, it won't actually allow gameplay, just shows a black screen. I read up on this, and it said I needed to use a patched EBOOT file found within the English Patch files. I inserted this new EBOOT in the proper spot, but that keeps the game from starting in JPCSP or PPSSPP.

This leads me to believe I need to follow the instructions exactly, problem is I don't own a PSP, so either I need to buy a cheap one, download a pre-patched ISO, or some other way that most places don't talk about because of issues of pirating a game that was never localized, I dunno.

    Anyone else in my position?

I think I might just buy the hardware at this rate, not like it'll set me back much.

Unfortunately, the link there with the prepatched latest appears to be removed. It's the same as in this thread: http://www.epforums.org/showthread.php?80732

    Thanks for the help though!

You are welcome to request a re-upload you can either post on one of those thread or just create a new request over at http://www.epforums.org/forumdisplay...p-ISO-Requests

I would also report the others as none working though from what I looked at the one I linked for you it seems very much alive and jdownloader is reporting all files are still online (i.e. you can download them)

If you just want to update the patch from an earlier version : Hide
From 1.0.12 onwards you can patch your ISO directly. Just place the ISO in the same folder as the patcher and then drag and drop it to BBS Patcher.exe. And no, it won't work if you drag it from somewhere else. The ISO has to be in the same folder as the patcher.

I tried downloading the one that was prepatched with an earlier patch, while that worked initially, dragging and dropping it into the exe cause the resulting ISO to be unable to run.

Just figured I'd post my efforts for anyone else trying to just play this in an emulator without a PSP.

Hey, before I make that request, I just wanted to list some steps I did to make it work:

    1. I downloaded that prepatched ISO from http://www.epforums.org/showthread.p...english-patch*
    2. Used UMDGen to extract the DAT files.
    3. Patched the DAT files and put them back in the ISO with UMDGen.

After that, it looks like everything works in JPCSP and PPSSPP now. I think it has something to do with the fact that the EBOOT inside the file is already patched, but I'll play through it and make sure there aren't any freezes. Hope this helps anyone else without a PSP.
