I saw the same video. I like the general direction that it's going in, but I'm going to wait for the final product before I make up my mind about buying a 3DS for that game or not. The sprites and environments just feel "off" at the moment, and I don't like how the camera is situated. It makes the 3D elements difficult to separate from the environment, which would get really annoying very quickly for me.

I'm hopeful, though.

I really fucked something up last playthrough and will have to do it on this one which will make it all the more difficult, that and running back and forth grabbing items and levels really put me off for the time being.
