I needed the bonnet repaired, and I needed it to drive to work...so I pulled the bonnet off and took it into the shop instead of the whole car.
A couple of months later I had my licence cancelled for various driving and vehicle offences

Yeah, it's the same here, legally you're not allowed drive without a provisional license but that law is rarely enforced.

As long as

A) You can drive
B) Your car has at least third party insurance, tax and an MOT & is generally road worthy
C) You're lucky

Then you'll get away with having no license.

That goes in with the road worthy part. You need to blend into the crowd as much as possible, so no damage, mods, etc.
